Stars Math Intervention Program for Grades 1 to 8
The Stars mathematics program was developed following more than a decade’s worth of research involving over 100,000 elementary and junior high school students in the United States. The program allows teachers to accurately assess and identify a student’s grade-level competence in computational skills and then prescribe effective and appropriate materials to correct his/her specific weaknesses. Our consultants use “Skills Inventories” to accurately and reliably determine what the student knows and what they should be working on to improve. Sequential skills outlines base on the student’s skills inventories are then used to prepare the student’s individual learning plan with specific materials to teach, review, and re-teach. A basic list of the computational strands covered in the Stars Mathematics Program are as follows:
à Number Sense & Concepts à Basic Skills: à Addition/Subtraction à Whole Numbers: à Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division à Decimals: à Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division à Fractions: à Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division à Percents à Rates, Ratios, and Proportions à Problem Solving à Algebra à Geometry
The Stars study skill program focuses on the following areas:
à Avoiding delays and ending procrastination à Organizing and planning work à Improving study habits à Improving attitudes towards school and studying à Time management à Determining à Interpreting graphs and tables |
